The Joan Whiting  Trust  2009
Short-term care is available for people whose normal caregiver is unavailable for an extended period of time.  At the Joan Whiting Rest Home, we offer short-term care for periods ranging from several weeks to several months, providing rooms are available.

Short-term care
Respite care is available to give caregivers a short break. We offer respite care for periods of a few days or a few weeks.   Respite care may not be available if all our rooms are occupied by long-term residents. The need for funded respite care is assessed by Support Works, a division of the District Health Board.

A Support Works Assessor allocates a certain number of hours respite care per year and funding is provided accordingly. If more time is required, private care is a possibility, if  we have rooms available.
